Homestay provides international students with an opportunity to participate fully in New Zealand family life and learn to speak conversational English.
Safe and Supportive Homestays: A Foundation for International Student Success
Living with a carefully selected homestay family offers significant benefits for our international students. Many report that their homestay experience fosters independence, self-sufficiency, and greater social confidence.
We prioritize student well-being through a thorough homestay selection process. Our dedicated Homestay Coordinator inspects potential accommodations and conducts interviews with prospective hosts. Furthermore, all successful host families undergo vetting by the New Zealand Police, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Each student enjoys a private room equipped with a bed, desk, storage for clothes, and heating. Host families provide three meals daily, including a packed lunch, or food for students to pack their own lunch for school. To ensure ongoing support, school representatives conduct regular visits and maintain open communication with homestay parents.
It's really important that we know our homestay families well. We visit them regularly, conduct police checks, and gather feedback through regular evaluations with both students and families. This ensures a positive experience for everyone.
Recognizing the unique needs of each student, we celebrate the diversity of our homestay families. This allows us to thoughtfully match students with families best suited to their individual preferences and requirements.
To fully integrate into family life, students are expected to participate in household chores and maintain the tidiness of their personal space.
Upon arrival, a member of our International Department warmly greets students at the airport and personally introduces them to their welcoming homestay families.
