Wakatipu High School offers an exciting range of extra-curricular activities.
There are many opportunities to get involved in sports through the school and the wider community. Local clubs offer coaching and team competitions and Queenstown has excellent golf courses, tennis courts, a swimming pool and an ice-skating rink in winter.
Music, drama and the arts are another exciting part of our school. We have award-winning jazz and pop music bands and individual instrument tuition is available. Each year, students undertake a major musical and dramatic production and our international students are strongly encouraged to take part.
Students can also learn Te Reo Māori (the Māori language) and participate in a Kapa Haka performance art group. This is a great way to learn more about the New Zealand culture.
For students not doing the end of year NCEA exams, our unique ‘Wakatipu Out and About Programme' (WOAP) is available. The programme features English classes, Māori language and culture classes, museum visits and walking one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. It’s a great way to wrap up a successful year. You can find out more about this and other extra-curricular activities on our main school website under 'Extra-Curricular'.
