Melissa Hutcheson - International Director
As International Director, Melissa drives the strategic vision and growth of Wakatipu High School’s international student programme. She oversees the daily operations of the International Department, ensuring compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice to maintain the highest standard of student welfare.
Melissa visits key recruitment markets to collaborate with agency partners and diversify the school's international student community. With her experience in international education, marketing, and general management, and having lived in six countries and traveled to over 60, Melissa leverages her cross-cultural understanding to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students from all over the world.

Kate Ide - International Administration and Homestay
Kate manages the ongoing welfare and pastoral care of Wakatipu High School’s international students, which includes conducting individual term interviews to support their well-being. She is responsible for sourcing, vetting, and onboarding host families, ensuring a safe and welcoming home-away-from-home environment.
Originally from England, Kate has lived in Queenstown for 25 years, working as both an educator and administrator. As a parent whose own children attended Wakatipu High School, she brings deep local insight and a personal understanding of the school community to her role.
