Our mission is to deliver a great all-round education that enables students to reach for their heights.

Student engagement, learning, progress and achievement are key priorities and our success is reflected in the outstanding results achieved by our students every year.

Wakatipu High School NCEA results (2021) are well above the national average:

- 70% of our Year 13 students achieved University Entrance against a national average of 52%

- At NCEA level 2 our performance is 93% achieved against the national average of 78%

Our teachers focus on great teaching and learning, including differentiated instruction, and also have a focus on ‘high performance’, which includes Merit and Excellence endorsements and Scholarships. We also have rigorous systems for monitoring and supporting students to achieve to their heights.

As well as our academic foundation, Wakatipu High School offers students a wealth of extra and co-curricular opportunities in sport, arts, music, culture, community and leadership. From our Kapa Haka group to the Ski Academy, there’s an incredible range of activities and groups on offer from which students can learn, grow and develop into confident young people.

Our inter-House competitions are a vibrant part of our school culture and an important feature of the school calendar. They give our students a sense of belonging and provide an opportunity for social interactions and a bit of friendly competition throughout the year.
