International Student Enrolment Process:
Wakatipu High School (WHS) welcomes your online application to study as an international student. Our international students represent a wide range of nationalities, and comprise approximately 3% of the school's annual roll. Wakatipu High School accepts international students to study for a minimum of two terms, starting in either Term 1 or in Term 3. Expectations During Your Studies:
As an international student at Wakatipu High School, you will be expected to fully participate in all your chosen subjects. This includes completing all assignments and sitting any tests or exams that are part of the regular curriculum, regardless of the length of your study period. This ensures that both you and your teachers are fully involved in making your experience studying abroad as successful as possible.
About Our Qualifications:
Wakatipu High School offers the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), which is the official national secondary school qualification in New Zealand, administered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Your NCEA test grades will be formally marked and submitted to NZQA.

- Online Application: Before you submit your online application form, you will need to sign the Contract of Enrolment, along with either the Accommodation or Designated Caregiver Contracts. The Contract of Enrolment contains our Code of Conduct and Refund Policy. Your online signature confirms that you have read and agree to the terms of all these contracts.
- *Admission Interview: We invite all prospective international students to an online interview with our International Director and Homestay Coordinator. This is a relaxed conversation on Google Meet, WeChat, or another platform, lasting between 20-40 minutes. It's a chance for us to get to know you, understand your goals, and answer any questions you or your parents have about our school and homestay life in New Zealand.
- Offer of Place: After you successfully complete the online application and interview, Wakatipu High School (WHS) will send you a conditional Offer of Place and an invoice.
- Visa Application: This brief video explains the Student Visa application process.
- Payment of tuition and fees: Once your tuition and fees are paid in full, WHS will issue a final Offer of Place and a fee receipt.
- Medical and Travel Insurance: All international students must have valid medical and travel insurance throughout their enrolment at WHS. We can provide a policy for you. If you get your own insurance, you must provide a copy of the policy (in English) to WHS before you arrive in New Zealand.
